This week’s episode of Ol’ Ute Radio with Johnny McKeon and Sascha Blume is a little bit different from the other episodes. Due to a scheduling conflict, the show had to be shortened in length and aired an hour earlier. Johnny starts out the show mentioning the show’s move to a new day and time, Wednesdays from 12-3pm. Johnny laments about the lack of money in his life and Sascha talks to Johnny about his other radio show, Geek Revolution Radio. Johnny learns Sascha’s lack of interest in the Game of Thrones series. Sascha explains to Johnny his new job and the implications and complications that come with awesome life changing opportunities.

The conversation leads to the NBA Finals with The Miami Heat playing against the San Antonio Spurs. Sascha predicts the results of the Finals saying that Miami will win and Johnny thinks that the Spurs have the winning formula to beat the heat. Sascha talks about Karl Malone’s controversial remarks against Michael Jordan. The debate about steroids in sports comes up along with the topics regarding athleticism vs. fundamentals and what it takes to enter the Hall of Fame.

Sascha wonders if violent sports such as boxing and wrestling will eventually become banned. Johnny shares his opinion of the website, “World Star Hip Hop”. Johnny expands on his theory of Justin Beiber, his public image, why everyone hates him and the business angle behind manufacturing a star instead of discovering one.

Sascha shares his thoughts on NSA wire-tapping and phone record seizures. Johnny explains his skepticism with the news and Nielsen rating. Sascha elaborates on the direction that the media is heading and the future of journalism. Sascha shares his opinion on politics and the standards of journalism. Due to the shortened show, there was no Comedy Corner this week. Tune in next week for an inside look at the work of Chris Rock.

We welcome our new radio talent, Emily or E-Lizzle, she hasn’t quite gotten her radio name just yet, so get on our facebook page B-Rax on the Trax to tell us what her name should be. We will be polling for what it is. E-Lizzle will be on the show for the summer. The best part? She LOVES amazing rock like the rest of us here on B-Rax. Plus she has a knack for delivering the “Stupid people in the News” segment.

Baseball Talk – Ep. 11 – Ute Baseball Year in Review & “Is Baseball Dying”

On this weeks episode, Will and Becca start off the show talking about the current state of MLB, who is impressing and who has completely flopped. One team that is truly surprising people is the Boston Red Sox, who are currently leading the East in the American League. They discussed some of the other teams, like Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers, who are really having rough years off the start. They also discussed how fast the season has passed by, and how the All-Star game is only a month away.

They shifted gears and did a year in review for the Ute Baseball and Softball teams. Will mentioned how he wished their was more the show had done to cover the Utah Softball team, and how softball in his mind, is good enough for the baseball show. With both teams pretty much on the same level, both teams struggled to hit .500.

Will and Becca closed the show talking about the often debate of wether baseball is dying. With a clip from an NPR report, they found numerous points to indicate that, in fact, baseball is not dying but actually growing. Free Software of the Week: GIMP & InkScape

GIMP is an acronym for GNU Image Manipulation Program. It is a freely distributed program for such tasks as photo retouching, image composition and image authoring.It has many capabilities. It can be used as a simple paint program, an expert quality photo retouching program, an online batch processing system, a mass production image renderer, an image format converter, etc.
GIMP is expandable and extensible. It is designed to be augmented with plug-ins and extensions to do just about anything. The advanced scripting interface allows everything from the simplest task to the most complex image manipulation procedures to be easily scripted.

InkScape is an Open Source vector graphics editor, with capabilities similar to Illustrator, CorelDraw, or Xara X, using the W3C standard Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format.
Inkscape supports many advanced SVG features (markers, clones, alpha blending, etc.) and great care is taken in designing a streamlined interface. It is very easy to edit nodes, perform complex path operations, trace bitmaps and much more. We also aim to maintain a thriving user and developer community by using open, community-oriented development.

Just in time for Gay Pride Week, Johnny McKeon and Sascha Blume welcome the Manager of Operations & Communications at Equality Utah, Alejandro Roark. Alejandro dives right into the issues for LGBT community. Equality Utah began six years ago as a political action committee to change the face of Utah Legislature for LGBT rights. Alejandro shares the inside perspective o f the current struggle the LGBT community deals with everyday. Alejandro clarifies the political process and places a heavy emphasis on voting. Sascha mentions a speech preformed at a rally by 2010 Gay Pride Parade Grand Marshall, Sister Dottie Dixon that featured at the end of the show.

Johnny talks about George Zimmerman defense fund is nearly depleted two weeks before the trial begins. Sascha talks about the cost of legal defense and Johnny speculates the outcome of the murder trial. Sascha talks about the upcoming group project he and Johnny will be working on for a documentary studies class in Montana. Sascha breaks the news about the University of Utah’s new class president’s impeachment over his grade point average. Sascha questions the ethics behind revealing the Student Presidents grade point average and Johnny shares the reason why he will never run for political office.

After a long hiatus, Baseball Talk is officially back. Matt hosted this episode, along with the new addition of Becca. Have no fear, Will will be back next week. On this weeks episode, Matt and Becca open up with some discussions on Becca’s history in baseball and her roots from South Dakota. They also discussed the current state in baseball, which teams are hot and which teams are cooling off.

Be sure to listen in to the show where Matt and Becca go through their own personal power rankings. Becca makes a few predictions for how the season is going to turn out for a few teams. Sascha Blume and Johnny McKeon start the show talking about Johnny’s workout music and routine. Johnny mentions his favorite song to listen to while jogging outside is Carly Commando’s, “Everyday”. University of Utah is planning to ban skateboards and all recreational riding on campus. Sascha rehashes his dislike for bicyclists but shows support for skateboard enthusiasts. Johnny is annoyed that there is no mention of Razor Scooters.

Tiki Barber’s brother, Ronde has officially announced his retirement from the NFL with 47 inceptions and 28 sacks. Sascha wonders if Ronde will next appear on Dancing With the Stars like his brother Tiki has in the past. A snake collector has received a temporary reprieve from removing 29 Boa-constrictors from his home. According to the report each Boa-constrictors cost $12,000 and $100,000 total to store all of them.

Sascha and Johnny debate a controversial ruling that bans cops with high intelligence quotients from joining the police force using the reasoning that intelligent officers would become bored with the job. Sascha talks about a 100 pound carp that has been caught twice in one week. According to reports, San Francisco can know ban passengers that use the BART subway as a bathroom.

Sascha talks about his recent experience working in journalism. Sascha also makes the argument that the Gangam Style music video is one of the best pieces of film-making in years and Johnny discusses the shot techniques both he and Sascha learned in their Video Production class and mentions an ad for HBO Boxing that exemplifies the use of Wide, Tight and Medium shots.

Johnny questions the ethics of celebrities using the crowd-sourcing website, Kickstarter to fund their films. Johnny thinks that the Rock will be the next Arnold Schwarzenegger while Sascha worries about the health and size of Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. Sascha shares the fact with Johnny that we cannot go 100 days without a professional wrestler dying.

The boys close out the show the Comedy Cubicle featuring comedian, Aziz Ansari. Sascha had never heard Aziz’s standup before and was delighted with his material. Johnny explains the differences between writing and performing. Johnny celebrates Aziz’s performing ability and believes that Aziz Ansari was the best live performance he has ever seen.

The boys talk about the impending Graduation on the University of Utah campus. Netflix is making some questionable moves by getting rid of 2,000 titles such as “Big Daddy” or “Adaptation”. Sascha talks about his favorite Adam Sandler movies while Johnny can’t seem to tell the difference from one to another. 2012 was the lowest year in Salt Lake City for bicycle citations and Sascha voices his displeasure with city cyclists while Johnny shares a story about a one legged bicyclist.

Duke University is hiking fees for student healthcare plans to include transgender sex changes. Google Glasses have been reported to have been hacked and jail broken allowing the user of the Google Glasses to record whatever the users sees with voice commands or subtle hand gestures.

Marilyn Manson and Alice Cooper are coming to Usana Amphitheatre as well as Dave Mathews Band thus provoking Sascha to express his feelings about the Dave Mathews Band. Johnny shares his love for the song, “Jump” by Kriss Kross and informs the listeners about Chris Kelley aka “Mac Daddy” death at 34 years old. Johnny and Sascha then proceed to talk about their own hip-hop groups they had back in the day.

The boys start out the show with Johnny McKeon complaining about Twitter and Sascha admits to still trying to figure out how it works. Johnny breaks the news that Twinkies will be back on shelves in soon as July. Johnny finds it ludicrous how big of an uproar occurred over Twinkies. Sascha informs Johnny about Dubai’s Police department getting a fleet of brand new Lamborghini’s. Johnny is surprised at Sascha’s dislike of action movie star Tom Cruise.

A crew team finds a gigantic head floating in the middle of the Hudson River. Sascha and Johnny form a bet about Notre Dame Linebacker Manti T’eo getting drafted in the first round. Johnny thinks it’s guaranteed but Sascha is skeptical. Loser of the bet has to eat canned peanut butter sandwiches from Wal-Mart. Stay tuned next week to find out who chows down on Ol’ Ute Radio.

PETA buys shares in Sea World in order to control its policy and shareholder meetings. First order of business is the release of Corky the Killer Whale. Sascha shares his breeding tips from his amateur Goldfish breeding business. The boys talk playoffs and Johnny laments the dismal playoff performance of the Boston Celtics and Sascha makes his picks for who is going to the finals.

Ol’ Ute Radio had its first call in guest with Salt Lake City comedian Jay Whittaker. Jay is headlining at Wiseguys Comedy Club in West Valley, Utah. Jay talks about his experiences opening for Patrice O’Neal and the reason why he started doing comedy.

The Comedy Cubicles Comedian of the Week is Steven Wright. Steven Wright is most often recognized as the guy on the couch in the movie, “Half Baked”. Steven has won one Grammy for his hit comedy album, “I have a Pony” and one Oscar for his short film, “The Appointments of Dennis Jennings.”

Johnny McKeon is excited for the Grand Kerfuffle Concert Featuring Awolnation.

Sascha informs the listeners that Fox 13’s own Big Buddha was on campus. Johnny proceeds to gossip about the Budda, and refers to Buddha’s head as a half-sucked Milk dud. Sascha shares some anonymous love notes that he received, one of them had the message, “Don’t be afraid of your fears, they are not there to scare you, they are there to let you know something is worth it.” This prompts Johnny to share his legitimate fear of one day being eaten by wolves.

Sascha questions Johnny’s winter fashion choices and Johnny explains what it is like to go through life with an abnormally hefty-sized head. Johnny reads a moving letter by Patton Oswalt regarding the Boston Marathon Tragedy. Sascha plays a stirring rendition of the National Anthem sung by Rene Rancourt at a Boston Bruins game.

Johnny shares a story about the Bradford Batman, a criminal dressed as Batman that was arrested for Burglary. Sascha theorizes the decline of good service in fast food. A Texas Teacher uses racism as a defense against a sexual assault allegation. Kid Rock wants to lower ticket prices to ensure that all his fans have a chance to see his shows and disagrees with the other Artists such as Jay-Z and Justin Timberlake ticket prices and fees.

Breaking news that Google Fiber is coming to Provo and The Pirate Bay is inaccessible using Google Chrome. Johnny also talks about The US House of Representatives passing CISPA and consequences that could occur if the Bill is allowed to pass. Sascha talks about the potential health violations linked to the popular house party game, Beer Pong.

The Boys close out the show with The Comedy Cubicle. This week’s comic featured is George Carlin. Sascha Blume plays clips from different periods of George Carlin’s career and Johnny discusses his material and Dark Humor. Sascha wonders if George Carlin’s material would do well in comedy clubs today.

Sascha informs Johnny about an interaction he had with a janitor over Sascha’s beverage choices. Johnny starts out the show by introducing Sascha to the Rap Game’s newest superstar, Lil’ Poopy. Lil’ Poopy is a ten year-old rapper who gets driven around in Ferraris, flashes wads of cash and smacks older women’s backsides. His Youtube videos made him the subject of a child abuse investigation that was later determined to have been unnecessary.

Johnny informs Sascha of the procedure to reclaim money eaten by pets and Targets poor phrasing of a certain plus-size clothing color. Sascha takes an opportunity at the break to play some spoken word poetry from some of his favorite Artists.

Sascha talks about a man dressed as the Cookie Monster that physically assaults a two year-old over two dollars. Sascha also laments over his distaste for the Management behind the Utah Jazz and the direction that the franchise is heading.

Twitter tirades strike back as the Creative Director of Xbox, Adam Orth was fired from Microsoft after making some rude comments to complaining customers. Adam’s comments were completely out of line and resulted in his termination within a few days after the incident.

Thanks to Joy Behar and The View, the boys have to change the name of the Comedy Corner to the tentatively named Comedy Cubicle. This week, Johnny and Sascha talked about the late comedian and fan favorite, Greg Giraldo. Johnny shares his personal feelings about what made Greg great and Sascha talks about Greg Giraldo’s days on Opie and Anthony.

The boys close out the show with by playing a Bob Marley tribute performed by the Grateful Dead.

Ol’ Ute Radio with Johnny McKeon and Sascha Blume

Johnny McKeon breaks the news about the suspension of the University of Utah Rugby team for 2013-2014 season just days before the Annual Wasatch Cup game against BYU. Sascha has an inside source that tells him some of the details on why the team was suspended. Johnny elaborates on his experiences as a rugby player and some of the logistics behind the game.

Johnny talks about another sport that Lance Armstrong is not allowed to compete in, competitive swimming. Sascha Blume talks about Dallas Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban statements about his willingness to draft NCAA All-Star Brittany Griner. Johnny shares his admiration for Cuban’s no holds barred attitude. The conversation leads into a debate about whether or not Brittany Griner could compete with men’s team in the National Basketball League. Sascha Blume mentions other great female basketball players such as Ann Meyers Drysdale and Chamique Holdsclaw which Sascha mistakenly refers to as Shamika Coleslaw. Johnny believes Griner could be an amazing 6^th “Woman” off the bench and could make more money on the bench in the NBA than starting in the WNBA.

Sascha Blume brings up some beard news at BYU and Sascha elaborates on his choice of personal grooming and facial hair. Brigham Young University has a policy that students have to be held to a barefaced standard or clean shaven or have a note from a doctor saying facial hair is medical necessity. The conversation leads to the Black Barbershop experience, which both Sascha and Johnny enjoy and encourage everyone to partake in from time to time. Johnny laments on his Irish genetics that result in a patchy thin beard that he finds disappointing.

The conversation leads into a story about two radio personalities that were fired for an April fool’s Prank. Sascha suspects this story as a ploy for publicity and ratings for the station. Johnny McKeon informs Sascha about the founder of the Vice Guide to Travel, Shane Smith’s plan to develop the next CNN. Sascha shares with the listeners his respect and admiration for Shane Smith, citing him as the motivation for Sascha’s pursuit of Journalism and Broadcasting as a career.

Continuing on to more serious topics, Johnny informs Sascha of a real-life merman who sells his own fins and indulges in aquatic experiences any chance he can. Johnny envies the passion behind this merman and wishes he could care that much about anything.

Johnny informs Sascha about another clue to the treasure hunt hidden by a New Mexico Treasure Hunter that was mentioned in Episode 7 of Ol’ Ute Radio with Johnny McKeon and Sascha Blume. Johnny does an impromptu movie review about the Colin Ferrell film, “Tiger land”. Sascha Blume informs the listeners that a McDonalds in Massachusetts is requiring 1-2 years experience and a bachelor’s degree. Johnny explains his favorite snickers commercial and his distaste for all things Betty White.

The boys close out the show with the Comedy Corner, featuring Patrice O’Neal. Johnny shares his sadness about the untimely death of Patrice just as he was starting to break out in Show Business. Sascha explains his appreciation for his talents and listens to excerpts from his last television performance. Patrice leaves behind a wife, step daughter and ailing mother and all the proceeds from his work go to them. Johnny McKeon and Sascha Blume pay tribute to the most amazing comedian you have barely heard of.

On this weeks show, Will and Matt dive right into Opening Week and how excited they are for major league baseball. They opened the show talking about Yu Darvish and how he came super close to a perfect game. They followed that up with Clayton Kershaw pitch a phenomenal game on opening day. Lastly, they opened up with Robinson Cano dropping his agent, Scott Boris, for JayZ.

During the Ute Baseball Segment, Will and Matt discussed the challenges Utah faced this last weekend against the college national champions, Arizona. Utah would end up getting swept on the road. Although there were some bright notes on the trip, overall, Utah struggled to get it done.

Johnny McKeon starts out the show discussing his distaste for all things Wal-Mart. The conversation covers all aspects from the lack of inventory, irate shelf-stockers, self-checkout, and carts being stolen at redbox, Johnny debates that the consequence of self-checkout machines has lead Wal-Mart to consider hiring customers to be delivery drivers.

Sascha Blume questions the thinking behind a Napa valley campus ban on Nerf guns for a game of tag between humans and zombies. Johnny questions the maturity behind playing with Nerf guns and Sascha makes an awesome point about adults needing to play with Nerf guns. Johnny and Sascha wonder if the University of Utah midnight zombie tag would be enhanced by Nerf Guns.

Johnny informs Sascha about two middle school students that are being charged for poisoning a teacher with hand sanitizer. Johnny wonders if hand sanitizer will be banned in school.

Sascha has some tech news including Google refusing the use of the verb, “google” to mean searching any search engine other than their own search engine. Johnny gets excited of FX’s announcement about creating another channel specifically for Comedy.

Sascha is shocked by the announcement of a death of a contestant of France’s version of Survivor. Johnny explains to Sascha the story behind Jay Leno’s departure from the Tonight Show. Sascha and Johnny talk about the generational difference between reading newspapers and reading news on the web.

The boys close out their show with fellow classmate and Boxer, Ernesto Flores. Sascha Blume talks to Ernesto about working in Latino media markets. Ernesto talks about how he got into the University of Utah and elaborates on the sport of Boxing. Ernesto has been boxing for over 18 years and talks about the impact that Boxing has had on his life. Johnny and Ernesto talk about their favorite fighters and why Ernesto started boxing in the first place.

Baseball Talk – Ep. 08 – Mar 27

On this weeks episode, Will and Matt get excited for Opening Day literally being days away. With MLB officially starting on Sunday night with Houston taking on Texas in what may become an interstate rivalry, baseball is officially upon us. They also opened the show talking about the issues with Scott Boris, and the control he has on the offseason for his agents. Will and Matt also discussed the ups and downs of the World Baseball Classic, and how the Dominican Republic were just stellar in the Classic.

During the Ute Baseball Segment, Will discuessed how amazing the game on Tuesday night against BYU was, and how The Utes really pulled out an amazing win in late innings. With brief interviews with TJ Bennett, Dallas Carroll and Dalton Carroll, the segment was full of excitement from the players following the game. The segment ended with an interview with Coach K following the victory over BYU.

Will and Matt closed out the show talking about fantasy sports and making some predictions for the end of the season. Be sure to listen in for who Will thinks will make the playoffs from the National League and who Matt thinks will make it from the American League.

Sascha Blume talks about testing the boundaries of free speech after a University of Michigan Student wrote a sexually suggestive essay about his professor. Johnny talks about the consequences of dressing a child in a T-Shirt advertising their food allergies.

A law professor loses his job after trying to incite a group of student protestors to only have the mob turn on him, resulting in him being banned from the campus. A teenager blames a Ninja for a self-inflicted bullet wound to his groin. Johnny ponders the difference between a Ski-Mask and Ninja Mask.

Sascha talks local news about 19 court cases getting thrown out due to an investigation of a West Valley Lead Detective. Johnny talks about how difficult it would be to rent a helicopter while in prison to use for a daring mid-day escape that air-lifted two criminals holding onto ropes in Quebec. Sascha Blume talks about a local Utah oil spill that was contained by the heroics of two oil-soaked beavers and learned a little about himself as well.

After a disappointing experience at the Broadcasting Fair, Johnny and Sascha debate corporate culture and the need to dress to impress. The boys wonder about the purpose of pretending to be someone else in an interview and why first impressions are important. Johnny debates the legitimacy of internships in this day and age. Johnny wonders why there is such a high price placed on success and the responsibilities behind being a top earner.

The boys close out the hour with the Comedy Corner featuring Joe Rogan. Johnny has been a die-hard Joe Rogan fan since his TV shows, NewsRadio and Fear Factor and shows Sascha why Rogan is so funny. Johnny McKeon and Sascha Blume start the show with Professional Boxer Curtis Woodhouse (21-4, 11 Knockouts) who hunts down a “Keyboard Karate Kid” who trolled him on twitter. The news then shifts to a homeless man who took up residency as a fake doctor in Kentucky and Sascha theorizes the use of Robitussin as a Hobo Melody.

Johnny informs Sascha of the threat of Ukrainian Commando dolphins that went AWOL in search of mates. According to the news reports these particular dolphins are trained in the use of special knives and firearms to kill enemy divers. They are also adept in the use of explosives to sink enemy ships.

Sascha explains his love hate relationship with Howard Stern and the controversy surrounding Howard’s response to the rumors surrounding his potential candidacy as a replacement for Jimmy Fallon.

Twitter sensation Rob Delaney’s public attempts to censor his own material after he bombs on Jimmy Kimmel leads Johnny to wonder if an artist should own a public failure or try to remove it from the internet. In this day and age is it better to silence a failure or put your name on it.

The boys listen to audio of New York City’s mayor, Mike Bloomberg’s stance on the soda ban and Mississippi’s retaliation to the proposed ban on Soda Pop. Sascha plays audio from Utah State Senator James Dabakis and informs the listeners of the current state of anti-discrimination laws involving the LGBT community.

They close out the show with the Comedy Corner featuring the greatest comedian of all time, Richard Pryor. Johnny and Sasha talk about what made Richard great, his film career, his drug addiction, and his final days battling Multiple Sclerosis. Sascha reminisces about a recent catastrophe that occurred just outside his home that resulted in screaming teenagers and multiple broken trees.

The boys talk about the pack mentality behind the recent Chihuahua attacks and Sascha elaborates on his green thumb and his beef with a crew of magpies that are terrorizing his neighborhood.

Johnny reports on the Amish life of crime while Sascha compares Amish hair cut attacks to chain snatching in Hip Hop. Johnny imagines the effectiveness of a horse drawn carriage drive-by.

Sascha talks about the diplomacy of Dennis Rodman and the North Korea Situation. Sensing something fishy, Sascha’s sharp ears catch the edits made in the Dennis Rodman interview to censor his opinions about his experience in North Korea.

The boys play the game, Who Sang it Better? This week’s song is, “A Change Is Gonna Come”. Sascha plays four different versions of the song from the artists, Sam Cooke, Aretha Franklin, Al Green, and Otis Redding. On this weeks show Will and Matt talk about spring training and the joys of warmer weather. With temperatures still pretty cool in Salt Lake, MLB players are starting to warm up in Arizona and Florida. They also discussed MLB’s look into instant replay. MLB Officials are heading to the WBC to analysis the possibilities for improving instant replay, which is long overdue. Will instant replay help MLB umpires or slow down the game?

They also discussed the World Baseball Classic and who is looking good after a week has gone by. With pools A and B finished with round 1, Cuba, Japan, Chinese Taipei and the Netherlands advancing, things are starting to get exciting as round 1 for Pool C and D are about to start.

During their Ute Baseball Segment, Will and Matt discussed the not-so-great weekend the Utes had in Minnesota. Winning their first game of The Dairy Queen Classic was the highlight, having many players on the team do well in the game. It was the 2nd and 3rd game where the offense was lacking and handful of defensive miscues that made the weekend a disappointment. Fortunately, the Utes will have a new series and travel back east to California to take on Saint Mary’s for a 4 game series.

The boys start the show off early with breaking news of a Marijuana DUI Bill developing in the State of Colorado. Sascha Blume marvels at one student’s ability to catch a teacher committing crimes on campus by hiding in a locker.

Johnny McKeon talks about a compulsive liar who was jailed after 11 false rape claims in 10 years. Sascha and Johnny debate where the law draws the line on false rape claims.

Sascha and Johnny discuss a couple facing felony charges for sneaking into a movie. Johnny talks about the repercussions of how higher levels of security at movie theaters directly affects the number of snacks he can sneak into the movies.

Johnny is befuddled by the revival and recreation of the ill-fated ocean liner Titanic. Sascha ponders the vintage experience of the maiden voyage of Titanic 2 without all the amenities of modern ocean liners such as Wi-Fi and television.

Sascha questions the ethics behind hospital policies in Michigan that allow the patient the right to choose their doctor by the color of their skin. Johnny wonders where the line gets drawn for free speech and belief in emergency situations.

Johnny taps into his inner Goonie with the announcement of a treasure hunt by a New Mexico Multimillionaire set to encourage kids and family to get into shape. Johnny reads the poem containing the information to the location of the treasure on air.

In this raw and honest segment Sascha Blume shares a video of James Brown and Luciano Pavarotti singing a Duet of, “It’s A Man’s World”. Johnny talks about James Brown’s position on Rollings Stone’s top 100 Artists of All Time. Sascha and Johnny talk about what it means to be a man in this day and age and gather a female perspective from drop- in guest, Sarah Isaacson. The conversation really opens up a tender side of Sascha Blume that listeners and even Johnny McKeon had never seen before.

Johnny McKeon closes out the show with a look at the late great comedian, Mitch Hedburg. Johnny elaborates on the impact that Mitch Hedburg had on the comedy world and the tragedy of his death at age 37. Sascha questions the mind set of a comedian and Johnny shares his experiences with stand up comedy and his own personal mindset behind performing and writing comedy.

Today’s show has an old school feel to it with Zach starting off on his own. Soon thereafter Kyle joins the show and unsurprisingly, NBA dominates the conversation. Former Seattle Supersonic and current Oklahoma City Thunder fan Kyle Iblaka-Flaka Flame Copier gives his thoughts on the new NBA franchise moving to Seattle next season, and whether or not his allegiances will switch. In addition, Kyle talks about the chances his Thunder have of winning a NBA championship this year.

Next up, the two discuss their favorite players in the NBA. The former 76er great Allen Iverson for Zach and Ibaka-like player Dikembe Mutombo. NBA talk continues, everything from MJ’s possible return to what player’s they’d love to watch in person.

When New Boston victoriously returns from the game and joins the show, the 3 talk about the game and in particular Utah Jazz fans.

Next up is the world of golf, specifically Tiger Woods. Does his loss in the first round of match play mean anything for his upcoming season? The crew debates the ramifications of Tiger’s performance this week at the WGC Match Play. Kyle and Josh give analogies for the Tiger situation, with Hercules and Sea Monkeys being involved. Needless to say, this is must hear radio.

After no show last Thursday, this week’s edition of “30 Love is all Valentine’s Day. Where would you bring a date on Valentine’s Day?

To close out the show, the crew talks about a new drug in testing that sobers you up in 45min. The pharmaceutical expert Skip Jr. expects this drug to be approved by the FDA so stay tuned for that.

On this weeks show, Will and Matt start out talking about news in the baseball world and spring training. The two big stories were Curtis Granderson fracturing his right arm and Manny Ramirez most likely playing in Taiwan.

After baseball news and spring training talk, they moved into talking about their favorite songs about baseball. Spanning from ‘Take Me Out to the Ballgame’ to ‘Centerfield’ by John Fogerty, there are some great songs revolving.

They then talked about the great weekend the Utes had against UC Davis, going 3 for 4 in the series. Will and Matt also had the privilege to interview TJ Bennett, one of Utah’s leading infielders on the team. He talked about the importance of the team, his transfer to the University of Utah, and his relationship with Coach Kinneberg.

Sascha Blume talks about the ethics behind hiring strippers for a 16-year old’s birthday party and Johnny discusses the obesity epidemic plaguing American house cats.

The boys ponder the Ja Rule Prison Experience and talk about a Diamond Heist in Germany that sounded like the plot for the next James Bond Movie. Sascha shares a personal story about a lady friend with an affinity for Dog Biscuits and audio from the Shenanigans at the Utah State Capitol.

Johnny wonders about the implications of a pill that reverses the effects of intoxication and then closes out the show with the Comedy Hour. This weeks hour featured a debate about the controversy surrounding the accusation of Dane Cook stealing fellow comedian Louis C.K.’s material. Johnny plays audio of the stolen material in question and an excerpt from the FX Hit, “Louie” that portrays an altercation between Dane and Louis.

On this weeks episode, Will and Matt started off the show talking about Chipper Jones and his unlikely return to baseball aside from all rumors surrounding a “Brett Farve” like comeback, the official start of spring training, the Ute’s opening series against Loyola Marymount.

The Utes overall had a great series against Loyola Marymount, considering they went 1-2. With this still kind of being their spring training as they start the season, the Utes have more games ahead.

They closed out the show talking about some of our favorite baseball movies. With childhood classics like The Sandlot, Rookie of the Year, Angels in the Outfield, and Bad News Bears, baseball and movies go together like a solid double play.

Along with talking about our favorite baseball movies, Will and Matt talked about the movie 42, about the legendary Jackie Robinson.

The two talk about what this will mean for the Utes in the upcoming season, as well as revisiting what exactly went wrong last season.

Next on the docket, basketball. First up is Utah basketball, with the Utes coming in to the latter part of conference play. Making the jump to the professionals, the two discuss some NBA with a little help from David in Colorado Springs. The rest of the crew finally makes an appearance after coming up short in their intramural basketball game, which leads to a debate on trash talk, and its role in sports.

Sascha Blume and Johnny McKeon had Will and Ann Hatton join in on the fun commenting about the Annual University of Utah Kiss-Off Competition sponsored by Kisstixx.

The lips lock and the jokes fly as Johnny and Sascha provide color commentary on the crazy event at the University of Utah Bookstore.

The entire event was sponsored by Kisstix.

23 Contestants were forced to perform various calisthenics while remaining lip locked to avoid elimination.

The Kiss-Off Competition got so intense that even Channel 13 Fox News stopped by to cover the event.

The Kiss-Off Competition lasted one hour and 45 minutes with couples competing head to head to win a Google Nexus 7 tablet. Below are the First Place Winners of the University of Utah Valentine’s Day Kiss-Off Competition.

On this weeks episode, Will and Matt start off the show discussing Michael Bourne signing with the Cleveland Indians for 4 years/$48 mil and “King” Felix Hernandez extending with Seattle for a 7 year/$175 mil contract, making him the highest paid pitcher in baseball history. They also discussed the upcoming World Baseball Classic and who America is going up against in the first round. Look for Team USA to host Mexico on March 7.

In our second segment, Matt laid out 5 up and coming players to look forward to. One player to really look forward to this year is SS Jurickson Profar of the Texas Rangers. His case is interesting as Texas already has an all-star shortstop in Elvis Andrus. Profar’s abilities, however will make a strong case for why he will be playing somewhere this year.

In our third segment, Will discusses the 5 players who had injury prone years last year who really need to make an impact this year. Of the five players, Brian McCann and Jose Bautista were some of the big ones discussed because of the major importance they have on the team.

Matt and Will closed out the show with another Ute Baseball Segment. On this weeks Ute Baseball Segment, they discussed the teams preperations in St George, the teams website and how you can track the games online, and their season opening matchup against Loyola Marymount. Friday Feb. 15, the Utes will be taking on Loyola Marymount, a school better known for their academics. Be sure to look for a recap of the series on next weeks show.

On this weeks episode, Ben, Ryan and Will, along with special guest local SLC comedian Johnny McKeon, discussed one of the greatest film trilogies of all time and space, Back to the Future. From the classic first film, to the old western of a third film, the guys hash through our favorite moments from all three films.

They started the show off talking about geek news, The Walking Dead coming back from break, and how Breaking Bad is shaping up to be the greatest moment on TV. Geek news was followed up with Star Wars news and how a stand alone movie is on the way, and it very well may be a ‘Yoda’ film. They discussed how cool it will be to get a back story for one the galaxies greatest Jedi Master, as well as the idea of other stand alone films. One such film would be the back story for Boba Fett, and his relationship with Han Solo.

They shifted gear for the “Airing of Grievance” and hashed out some of the worst offenses our society has to offer. Between excessive bumper stickers and the Oreo cookie wars, our grievances have been aired.

All and all, between Back to the Future and Star Wars, the guys really geeked out! Look for the Walking Dead review of episode 9 of season 3 on Monday Feb 11th.

Episode 4

Johnny McKeon ponders the homeless problem on campus and Sascha Blume leads off with a story about an elementary school suspension over an imaginary grenade. Johnny speculates the intention of the school district and tells a personal high school story of a similar situation.

Johnny recaps his opinion of the Super Bowl and questions the media’s view of the Raven’s as an underdog. Sascha vocalizes his disdain for Ray Lewis while Johnny performs a spot on impression of Ray Lewis. Sascha debates whether or not Ray Lewis’ controversy would have been a bigger issue if it had happened during the Internet age while Johnny wonders what the future holds for Ray Lewis.

Johnny addresses the pros and cons of placing cameras on police officers.

Sascha and Johnny talk about the move to all digital gaming on the Xbox and Play station 3 and its effect on the second hand game market chain Gamestop. Sascha then rants and raves about the issues with downloadable content.

Sacha leads off on this weeks featured Comedian Richard Jenni and plays a great conversation featured on the Joe Rogan Podcast about Richard Jenni as well as some clips from some of his best bits.

Independent Filmmaker Matt Shirley comes by the studio to close out the hour and answer all the boys’ questions about the University of Utah Film Program, the independent film-making process and the merits of writing drunk versus sober.

On todays episode, Will and Matt discuss baseball season officially starting once football has officially ended. They also started off the show talking about the ongoing issues with PEDs and how Ryan Bruan has been implicated with the Miami PED drug users.

They also discussed the upcoming World Baseball Classic, and the national pride that goes into seeing Team America take on the best the world has to offer. Not only is spring training just around the corner, but the WBC will take place in March.

Will and Matt also talked about some of the Utes key players, like Brock Duke, Mitch Watrous, and Trey Nielsen. They also talked about the Utes Head Coach Bill Kinneberg and his 9 years of coaching the Utes.

They closed out the show talking about spring training and how it is really just around the corner. Are you as excited for baseball coming as we are?

To start out the show, Kyle and Matt opened with Ute basketball. They talked about expectations, how the season will wrap up and where the team is moving to in the future.

The crew mainly focused on the excitement that was Super Bowl XLVII, they discussed the power outage, Beyonce’s top performance, and how Rey Lewis is a chump. Congrats are in order for the Ravens as they won. The topic of Flaco’s elite status came up, but more focus was put on Colin Kaepernick and how he choked.

This is the return of the Red Zone. After a long break from recording, the crew is back and ready for action. On todays show, they talked about fantasy basketball, the return of hockey, and the last official week of football.

During the fantasy football discussion, Will called in and called out the big trade between Josh and Brandon, and wanted a further review of the trade.

The crew also did the ESPN polls for Sports Nation and also turned a bit from sports talk to discuss the upcoming Academy Awards and who will win best picture.

On this weeks episode, Will and Matt discuss steroids, the Hall of Fame, and Ute Baseball. They start off the show talking about the Justin Upton trade between Arizona and Atlanta, and how last weeks show could have been breaking news on this trade.

They also discussed Alex Rodriguez and his folly after being called out on PEDs for a second time. The Miami New Times is reporting that A-Rod has popped hot on another drug test. This very well may be the end of baseball for him, and they Yankees may just eat his paycheck.

Will and Matt discuss the current Hall of Fame ballot return and how no one will be inducted into the Hall of Fame this year. This is truly a travesty and a change is needed in the current ballot process.

Will and Matt close out the show discussing Ute Baseball and how soon the season starts. Feb 15th is the first game, and March 15th is the first home game, where Will and Matt will be in attendance. Every week here at Baseball Talk there will be a Ute Baseball Segment.

Sascha debates whether or not the controversy will cause Te’o's draft stock to plummet and Johnny explains the origin of the term Catfishing citing and summarizing two documentaries about the subject.

The boys continue talking football and discuss the future of Andy Reid, former head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles and the “Win Now” attitude of professional sports.

On today’s episode, with the crew still at half staff, Will, Matt and Kyle discussed the football game from last friday…which was a wild game in which we saw a completely different team from the rest of the season. We say a great defense, an outstanding special teams, two kickoff returns from Reggie Dunn, and a decent offense.

The crew then discussed the end of the MLB season and an unwanted congratulations to San Francisco for winning the the World Series last night. The best part of the Giants winning last night is the start of “Hot Stove” season…may the best team sign the best free agent.

The crew also discussed the current state of the World Series. With a 2 game lead going into Detroit, San Francisco looks to be in a great opportunity to sweep the Tigers. The question is, how will the Tigers play at home?
